FAQs

When do you meet?

Every Monday at 7pm excluding Cyprus Bank Holidays, groups run for approximately 2 hours. The door will be open from around 18.45pm, you will be met by a friendly MENTALK representative who will take that step in with you and show you where the brew station and biscuits are.

Do you have professionally trained volunteers?

We have experienced facilitators who attend regularly, but the group is mainly peer led. Every man that helps us to facilitate our groups also attends and uses the group.

Do you need to be suicidal or to have been suicidal in the past to attend?

No, there is no requirement to be suicidal or to have been in the past. There is no requirement to have a mental health condition or issue. Men attend for multiple reasons, all men are welcome.

How many clubs do you have and where?

MENTALK is currently based only in Paphos. We hope to open new clubs around Cyprus in the future.

Is it free to attend?

Yes, there are no fees involved in attending MENTALK – even the cuppa is free!

Do I have to register?

No, there is no registration or booking involved with attending a MENTALK session. Venue details can vary, so just check the Facebook page for this week’s venue. You do not need to tell anyone you are coming and you can turn up a little before 7pm.

Do you run any events?

Social events take place throughout the year, keep up with the Facebook page for all the latest news.

Can women attend a group?

Our sessions are men-only.

Are you open every Monday?

Our sessions run every Monday excluding Cyprus Bank Holidays.

Can I contact a club or facilitator directly?

All enquiries are handled by our admin team. They can be contacted on support@pafosmentalk.org

Will anyone know I have attended?

The only people who will know are the people in attendance with you. Our group is confidential and what happens in the room stays in the room. The only time where this is not the case is if a group facilitator deems you to be a harm to yourself or potentially others, then emergency services would be notified.

Is there anything I can't talk about?

We have a very small set of rules that the facilitator of the group will run through ahead of every session to ensure safety within the group and that the session flows.

Do you keep attendance records?

No records of individual attendance are kept at any of our groups. Online details are also deleted unless you request that your details are kept on file for marketing purposes.

Are you a 24/7 service?

No, our office team works Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm, our sessions run from 7-9pm on Monday nights. If you require someone to talk to please call the:

How old do you have to be to attend?

Any man over the age of 18 is able to attend our session.

What time do I have to get there?

We advise attendees to get to the session at 18.45 to ensure they have time to settle in and grab free refreshments. If you are running late, please inform the office team on Facebook or WhatsASpp and we can notify the guys at your group.

Can I leave early?

We would advise you to stay for the full session to reap the full benefits of the session. If for any reason you have to leave early, please inform a facilitator before doing so.

How can I donate to MENTALK?

You can donate to MENTALK.  There is a collection box at the meeting if you are able to make a contribution to the cost of running the session.
We also accept donations via bank transfer for more details email support@pafosmentalk.org.  The group is in the process of registering as a charitable foundation.

I’m looking for urgent help.

If you’re in need of urgent support, please call Cyprus Samaritans or get to your local hospital with a 24 hour A&E (for example Paphos General) where they will assist you. Alternatively, the Cyprus Police will help you if you are in a mental health crisis.

Do you accept referrals?

Yes we do! But referrals are not necessary to attend, men can simply turn up.

Can I just turn up to a venue?

Yes – but it is advised that you check the relevant Facebook group or website to ensure the group hasn’t changed venue that week.

Are your venues wheelchair accessible?

If you’re a wheelchair user or have mobility problems, please call us to discuss accessibility.
